Grammy winning, recording artist and producer Carlos Vives brought his band members, rhythm instruments, tambourines, bongos and a djambe drum to The Grammy Museum in L.A. Live to share his love of music with 4th grade students from the acclaimed Para Los Niños elementary school, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the academic success and social wellbeing of children. He told he students the story of his music: that he combined the music of his birthplace, Santa Marta, Colombia, with is love for rock ‘n’ roll. He then did a special set of five songs for the children with six members of his band. Carlos and a member of the Grammy museum executive staff took them on a tour of some of the exhibits at the museum so they could understand the importance of their musical inheritance.
“We are honored to have Para Los Niños take part in this extraordinary event with Carlos,” said Martine Singer, President & CEO of Para Los Niños. “These opportunities remind us of the positive impact access can provide LA’s neediest children, so they get the knowledge and sense of well-being they need to create successful lives.”
