Colombia mourns the death of one of its greatest actors of all time, Carlos Muñoz Sánchez, who passed away Monday from health complications. He was 72 years old.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by the actor's wife Luz Helena Ángel, reports Noticias RCN. In November 2015, the actor underwent surgery for a hernia that affected his stomach and lung. Just two weeks after his operation, Muñoz suffered complications and had to be admitted to emergency in the Reina Sofia Clinic. He died Monday in Bogota and is survived by his wife and daughter, Manuela Muñoz Ángel.
Family, fans and celebrities alike mourn the death of the iconic telenovela and movie actor, including Colombia's president Juan Manuel Santos, who expressed his deepest condolences on social media. "We have lost a big TV star: our beloved Carlos Muñoz, a great actor and valuable human being. We will miss him and accompany his family," the president wrote on Twitter. Colombian singer Carlos Vives also expressed his feelings on social media. "Thank you to our friend and actor Carlos Muñoz for the unforgettable moments he gave Colombians with each of his characters," he said on Instagram, adding that the actor's trajectory is unrepeatable.
Muñoz, who was a three-time Premios TV y Novelas winner, was a TV, film and theater actor. His most recent productions included "Casas de Reinas," "Donde Carajos esta Umaña?" and "Chepe Fortuna." May he R.I.P.
