It has yet to be announced when “Captain America 4” will come out although a recent development could shed more light on that.
In an exclusive from the Hollywood Reporter, it was announced that filmmaker Julius Onah will be tasked to direct “Captain America 4.”
For those who may not know, Onah is best known for his work on the 2018 thriller, “The Cloverleaf Paradox.” This time around, he will be in for a new challenge, a bigger one considering the following “Captain America” or any film from the Marvel Universe is huge.
The challenge is stiffer considering that there will be major changes. With most used to seeing Chris Evans in the title role, there will be a change with Anthony Mackie in the starring role.
Mackie will still reprise his role as The Falcon/ Sam Wilson. But with the turn of events that happened at the end of 2019 “Avengers: Endgame,” one of Onah’s goals is to successfully sell Mackie as the new Captain America.
Of course, “Captain America 4” could have some added help following the 2021 Disney+ series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”
The writer of that show, Malcolm Spellman, is writing the screenplay with Dalan Munson.
For those who may have not seen it, Wilson struggled to accept the role of succeeding Captain America. In the end, he learns to accept it along with the heavy responsibilities that come along with it, Variety reported.
Aside from Mackie, there remains no official word on who will join Wilson on “Captain America 4.” Among the names in mention include Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes (aka the Winter Soldier), Wyatt Russell’s John Walker (aka U.S. Agent), Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter (aka Power Broker) or Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
An update on when "Captain America 4" will be released could be out later this month at the San Diego Comic-Con.
