Spanish actress Candela Márquez has spent over a decade in the world of film, television, and theater. However, her romantic relationships with entertainment figures have often garnered more attention than her roles. The latest name added to her list of high-profile relationships is the renowned Spanish singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz. But before him, Márquez had several romantic entanglements with notable Mexican celebrities.
As she now dates one of the most iconic Latin music artists, the spotlight has once again shifted to her confirmed romances, which include actors Adrián Uribe and Luis 'Potro' Caballero. She's also been linked to José Manuel Figueroa and Salvador Zerboni.
What's unusual is that few of her exes have anything positive to say about her.
A Love Triangle?
The biggest scandal in Márquez's personal life unfolded in 2023 during the production of the play 'Los Amantes Perfectos,' where she starred alongside Jorge Salinas, Ivonne Montero, Sherlyn, and Victoria Ruffo.
The cast also featured Pablo Montero and Cristián de la Fuente, who, in early July, got into a physical altercation. Reportedly, the fight stemmed from jealousy over Márquez, whom both actors were allegedly pursuing romantically.
Shortly after, Márquez announced her departure from the play, though producer Omar Suárez dismissed the rumors. Eventually, she returned, and the situation settled down. Nevertheless, the cast's dynamics convinced the public that the love triangle, or the suggestion of one, might have been true.
Candela Márquez and Adrián Uribe
Márquez's relationship with fellow actor Adrián Uribe lasted almost two years, during which they were inseparable. They didn't shy away from showing their love on social media. Uribe even spoke about the possibility of marriage during a 2016 interview on 'Hoy,' a popular morning show on Televisa.
However, the couple broke up at the end of 2017, and Márquez later admitted that the breakup was tough for her. While the reason for their split was never officially confirmed, rumors hinted at Uribe's infidelity.
The Romance with Potro Caballero
Last year, Márquez briefly dated podcaster and reality TV star Luis 'Potro' Caballero, though he admitted the relationship didn't last long. "I don't know, the relationship developed slowly, spending time together helped a lot, and there was a strong attraction between us—she's a very beautiful woman," Caballero said of their time together, which started when they both competed on 'Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy,' a reality show on Televisa.
"But I think she has different priorities in life: not wanting a formal relationship or respecting one. I tried to do things right, but I'm certain that things happen for a reason," Potro said when confirming the breakup.
During the most recent season of 'La Casa de los Famosos México,' Potro confessed that the relationship had taken an emotional toll on him. "She destroyed me," he admitted, calling Márquez "crazy" and "an opportunist."
The Relationship with Zerboni Also Ended Badly
In an interview on 'El Minuto que Cambió mi Destino,' actor Salvador Zerboni discussed his past relationships. When asked about Candela Márquez, his response was blunt.
"Candela? Who's that? Oh, the Spanish girl—that was just a fling. I don't usually speak badly about women, but actions speak louder than words. If someone takes a closer look into her life, they'll find many unpleasant things she's done, and I didn't like it at all," the actor said. "She definitely did some bad things to me. It wasn't nice. There's a difference between a bad person and a bad human being; they're different things, and in my opinion, she's a bad human being."
A Professional Career Overshadowed by Romance
Despite the controversies, Candela Márquez has built a notable acting career, with roles in popular telenovelas like 'Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse,' 'Betty en NY' (Telemundo's version of 'Yo Soy Betty La Fea'), and 'Malverde, el Santo Patrón.'
Now, her name is back in the headlines, this time due to her new relationship. Let's hope things turn out better with Alejandro Sanz.
