A California woman was killed after she was run over by a car while she chased three men who robbed her boyfriend.
Investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, are searching for three men who are wanted for the attempted robbery and murder of 31-year-old Samantha Mena.
According to the investigators, on March 26, Mena’s boyfriend, who has not been identified was outside her Lancaster apartment when three armed men approached him.
The men attempted to rob the man at gunpoint. When Mena heard the commotion she ran outside to try and stop them.
Mena then began chasing the armed robbers to a waiting silver, four-door sedan and stood in front of the car, Det. Ray Lugo said.
However, this didn’t stop the driver, the car ran over Mena, Lugo said. She was rushed to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Mena's family has started a GoFundMe page and is mourning their loved one.
"She was a beautiful beloved daughter, sister, and a great friend to many," her family wrote on the GoFundMe. "Samantha was an amazing sister to brothers, Matthew and Carlos Mena. We know Samantha has had a positive impact on many people throughout her life."
According to the family, the robbers brutally beat up Mena's boyfriend before they ran away.
The victim's father, Mauricio Mena, said that his daughter "was the most beautiful girl." "Beautiful inside and outside," he added.
He said that he spoke to his daughter every day on the phone. She always ended the call by saying she loved him. "I have nobody to tell me that," the devastated father said.
Mena, the oldest of three siblings, worked as a manager of a Starbucks at a Target in Lancaster, her family said.
This is an ongoing investigation and investigators are on the lookout for the three men. The Sheriff’s officials described the suspects to be between the ages of 20 and 30.
