Man Missing California

A California man who went missing 25 years ago has been reunited with his family after his sister recognized his photo in the news, according to officials.

On Friday, a woman called authorities to report that a man in a USA Today article looked like her long-lost brother, according to the Lassen County Sheriff's Office.

The man had been discovered in South Los Angeles in April and had been taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, California. The hospital released a description of him to the public, noting that he was a white man in his mid-sixties with gray hair, blue eyes and is about 6-foot-one and weighs roughly 125 pounds.

The man was then transferred to another LA-area hospital in July, reported ABC News. He was not able to communicate his name or any other identification information.

The woman's brother apparently voluntarily went missing in 1999, near Doyle, California, which is close to Reno, Nevada, according to the sheriff's office.

The sister "was super excited," Capt. Mike Carney of the Lassen County Sheriff's Office told ABC News. "She was very appreciative that we took the time just to follow up on it. She was over the moon and anxious to call other family members to let them know."

"It's gonna make their Thanksgiving that much better," he continued. "Be tenacious when it comes to these things, because there are family members that want answers."
