A former employee at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System was found dead in a Philadelphia jail cell days after being arrested for the fatal stabbing of his former supervisor in a work-related dispute.

Paul Alexander Warren, a 58-year-old Navy veteran, had worked in the Logistics Department at the VA Loma Linda facility since 2015, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

He had a contentious relationship with Joshua Watson, his supervisor, over absences reportedly linked to medical issues.

On November 25, Watson, a 43-year-old Marine Corps veteran and father of two, was stabbed to death in his Rancho Cucamonga home in what authorities later described as a premeditated and workplace-related attack.

Warren fled California and was arrested December 9 in Philadelphia after attempting to access a military facility.

While awaiting extradition to California, Warren was discovered hanging in his cell at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on December 19. Despite attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead on December 21 at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.

Warren's death coincided with the memorial service for Watson, held that same day in Los Angeles. His death also brings the criminal case against him to a close, with the charges set to be dismissed.
