A video recorded in an elementary school in Sonora, Mexico, has caused a lot of anger in social media. The recording, that took place in the school "José María Morelos" in Hermosillo, lasts about eight minutes and shows how an unattended group of students encourages one of their classmates to beat up a girl of the class. Besides the obvious beating, the kid, identified as "Julián" but known as "Chana" by his classmates, grabs the girl's neck and suffocates her until she loses her consciousness. At the end of the video, the sixth graders are focused one by one as they say their names in a twisted attempt to get caught.

Family members of "Joana," the victim, won't press charges but confirmed they're moving out of state. Juan, the father of the girl, expressed that he, his wife and three kids arrived in Hermosillo six months ago but have gone through many negative experiences, like what happened to Joanna at her school.
He was interviewed by a local radio station and said he was upset that the minors involved in the attacks towards his daughter were not going to be punished. "One of them is the son of a police officer, so because of that the school can't do anything," said Juan. He added that they're not going to sue because "the only thing we're going to do is harm the teacher and the school, which is like a second home to kids."

Juan confirmed that his daughter is doing better because "things didn't go further." But he added that "if things had turned out different, I would've taken down the school."
He also said the family didn't know about the video. "Our daughter told us that she had gotten into a fight at school, but we thought it had been just a regular brawl. She told us she threw a broomstick at the other kid, but I hadn't seen the video. It's terrifying."
The father also pointed out that the school's principal and the teacher who was supposed to be in the classroom at the time also spoke with him and expressed their apologies, but that wasn't enough and Juan is taking his family back to Jalisco, his home state, to forget the unfortunate incident that compromised his daughter's wellbeing.
As for the minor who attacked the girl, it was reported that he was suspended for three days after the teacher found out what happened last week, and was submitted to a psychic evaluation. Other news outlets reported that the kid was a "special needs" student and he was provoked by the one recording the video, so his punishment couldn't be stricter.
The sixth grader who recorded the video couldn't be suspended because the attacks surfaced the web over the weekend and school authorities who learned about this case of bullying after it happened, weren't aware there was a recording of it, and tomorrow is the last day of school for the students.
María de la Paz Soto, the teacher who was supposed to be in the classroom but left for a moment to report the class' grades, won't be suspended either. She only got an affidavit, as well as the school's principal, Alfredo Echegaray.
