It's been almost four years since Brittany Murphy died. She was found unconscious in her Los Angeles home in 2009 and died shortly thereafter. The coroner ruled that she died of natural causes, claiming that her death was due to pneumonia and iron-deficiency anemia, and noting that the prescription medicine she was taking weakened her system. Many rumors surrounding her death surfaced, stating that Murphy was battling an eating disorder and that was what had made her immune system fail. Her death was concluded to be accidental, and was attributed to multiple drug intoxication, pneumonia and "iron deficiency anemia."
However, new questions have been raised about the cause of her untimely passing. A lab report commissioned by her alleged biological dad, Angelo Bertolotti, suggested that his daughter was murdered and poisoned and indicated that there is evidence of heavy metals found in rat poison in samples of Murphy's hair, according to ABC News. The lab results, which were obtained by Examiner.com and later by ABC News, reportedly read: "Testing the hair strand sample identified as 'back of the head' we have detected ten (10) heavy metals at levels above the WHO [World Health Organization] high levels recommendation."
According to omg! Yahoo, the report notes that heavy metals are most commonly found in rat poison and insecticides. It continues: "If we were to eliminate the possibility of a simultaneous accidental heavy metals exposure to the sample donor then the only logical explanation would be an exposure to these metals (toxins) administered by a third party perpetrator with likely criminal intent." Murphy's body was discovered by her husband, Simon Monjack, who died five months after Brittany presenting the same symptoms.
After hearing this case, we can't help but to think about the recent passing of Mexican actress Karla Alvarez, who was found dead last Friday, Nov. 15 at her house. Her cause of death was ruled as a cardiopulmonary arrest because of the 41-year-old actress' struggles with bulimia and anorexia. The Mexico City Attorney General (PGJDF) confirmed that Alvarez's untimely death was directly linked to her battle with eating disorders, for which she was receiving treatment. An autopsy was not performed as the actress died of natural causes.
Since no further tests were made, we can't help but to wonder if maybe her death could've been because of lead or asbestos. These two cases are frighteningly similar given that both girls were young actresses, both died in their homes from what seemed to be health issues that no one knew about, both were rumored to be fighting an eating disorder, and both deaths were concluded "accidental." What do you think? Was Brittany Murphy poisoned? Should Karla Alvarez's family open a new investigation on her death? We want to know what you think!
