Brad Pitt found solace in Angelina Jolie when he was no longer happy with his marriage to Jennifer Aniston. Ironically, when Pitt and Jolie decided to split, Pitt turned to Aniston for comfort. The phone call he gave Aniston in the wake of his marriage to Jolie falling apart reportedly marked the beginning of his renewed friendship with his ex-wife.
In his interviews following his divorce from Aniston, Pitt criticized his marriage to the “Friends” actress. He described their almost five years of marriage as dull and boring, but she was the first person he turned to after calling it quits with Jolie.
According to reports, Pitt reached out to Aniston after splitting with Jolie by dropping her a call to apologize for his hurtful comments about their marriage. Shortly after filing for divorce from Jolie, Pitt reportedly gave Aniston a call to tell her that he was having a hard time dealing with the stresses of the divorce process.
Being the nice woman that she has always been, Aniston quickly forgave Pitt and listened intently as her ex poured his heart out to her. During their conversation, the exes also had a great time reminiscing and talking about their good old days together, as well as all those times they tried to keep out of the spotlight during the nineties.
Although Pitt’s phone call did not rekindle any romance between him and Aniston, it paved the way for them to be friends again. Since their first phone conversation after their split, the exes have managed to keep their renewed friendship under wraps for a few years. No wonder everyone was surprised when Pitt suddenly showed up at Aniston’s 50th birthday party back in February. It turned out that despite their history, he and Aniston have remained good friends all along.
In an interview following his split from Jolie, Pitt opened up about his relationship with Aniston and how much he values the friendship that they share. “Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend,” he said. “It is an important relationship I value greatly.”
