The hit television series, “The Boys,” ended its second season with more questions from the viewers. But, will the answers show themselves in the third installment of the popular Amazon segment?
So far, fans know that the filming of season three, episode one, titled, “Payback,” started this February and will wrap up its production in September. Either the viewers get to see this drop in Prime by winter of 2021 or in mid of 2022.
The third season will pick up after the finale of season two. The series left viewers with Butcher making an offer with Edgar to help Vought retrieve Ryan at Homelander's cabin after learning of his capture from Becca. Butcher, on the other hand, broke the agreement and tries to save Becca and Ryan from Stormfront instead. This led to Ryan disabling Stormfront but inadvertently kills Becca in the process.
Meanwhile, the disillusioned Maeve uses the video to blackmail Homelander. Mother’s Milk went home to his family while the charges against Starlight have been dropped, and she, along with A-Train, has returned to the Seven. However, unknown to Hughie and the rest of the team, Congresswoman Victoria Neuman is a secret supe.
Fans can only speculate what will happen in season three as Neuman plans on forming a new team in keeping supes in check.
So, what can fans expect in season three? According to Nerdist, Jensen Ackles will be joining the supes as Soldier Boy, a parody take of Captain America. Soldier Boy was a member of Payback, an opposing supe group to the Seven. It seems like the title for episode one will live up to its name.
Joining Ackles is “Dexter” actress Katia Winter as Little Nina. Readers of the original comic series will be curious how the showrunners are going to play out her famous death scene.
Meanwhile, Screenrant revealed that season three will adapt the “Herogasm” story arc in the series. Herogasm is a plot from "The Boys" comics that revolved around an annual superhero orgy.
How the story fits the current situation of the leaves up to the viewers’ imagination, especially when it handles heavy adult themes. Only time can tell how the third installment of the “The Boys” will pan out for the new favorite supes.
