The New York Post released what they are calling the first images of the alleged suspects in the Boston marathon bombing. Some were found on a social media site. The New York Post reported that investigators know the names of two men captured on video surveillance cameras, but there is no confirmation as to whether these two men are the same as in the Lord and Taylor video.
More images of the alleged suspects can be found on the Imgur site.
Liberty News offered a more in-depth look at the photographs.
The Post reported that the photographs were originally obtained in an email from an unspecified source, which had the attached memorandum.
"The attached photos are being circulated in an attempt to identify the individuals highlighted therein. Feel free to pass this around to any of your fellow agents elsewhere." The message reportedly references FBI agents.
However, Deadspin reported that the man in the jacket is a Boston-area track-and-field athlete, who went so far as to change his Facebook name because of the blowback he was allegedly getting. The unnamed athlete is maintaining his innocence, and Deadspin said he likely had nothing to do with the Boston marathon bombings.
At this time, there are still no arrests, and a flurry of rumors and accusations are swirling regarding these two men and others mentioned on social media sites such as Reddit.
The Post came under fire from some corners earlier this week when it reported that a Saudi national, studying in the Boston area, was named a 'person of interest'. It was later revealed that the man will be deported on national security grounds, according to a terrorism expert.
Authorities now report that they personally will officially issue photographs of possible "people of interest" sometime late Thursday.
This is a developing story.
