The finish line of the Boston Marathon has been the object of an unidentified attack, when Monday at 3 p.m. EST two powerful explosions went off almost simultaneously.
The headquarters, set at Fairmount Copley Plaza Hotel, has been closed down and multiple people have been injured, as reported on the spot by a Boston Globe staffer on the field. Nobody is allowed in or out of the building.
Boston police informed that the official count had gone up to 23 injured and two dead.
The Marathon was dedicated to the Newtown families, who sat in the first row at the finish line.
It is still unknown if the explosions were due to an attack or an accident. Federal authorities had no official information, although they did find several other devices in the JFK library and the upscale Mandarin Hotel.
