Authorities in Russia are looking to determine if they can charge Bloodhound Gang member Jared Hasselhoff with desecrating the Russian flag after an incident during a concert in the Ukraine. The bass player for the American band Bloodhound Gang took a Russian flag, stuffed in into the front of his pants and pulled it out from between his legs.
On Monday the Russian Interior Ministry opened an investigation into the incident after footage of the Bloodhound Gang with the flag went viral. In the video the fans begin to boo as they see a Russian flag hanging on the stage. "Evil" Jared has the flag taken down and replaced with the Ukraine flag. He then tells his audience "I know what to do with the Russian flag."
After asking the crowd not to tell Putin Hasselhoff takes the flag and stuffs it down the front of his pants. He then reaches around to the back of his pants and pulls the Russian flag out from between his legs.
The lead singer of the Bloodhound Gang then told the audience he disagreed with what Hasselhoff just did because "unfortunately, Russia is better than America."
On Friday Bloodhound Gang was scheduled to perform at the Kubana Festival, an annual concert event featuring bands from across the globe, in Russia. Bloodhound Gang was set to headline the festival on Friday night but a spokeswoman for the Kubana Festival told the Associated Press their performance had been canceled as a result of their treatment of the Russian flag.
That Sunday Bloodhound Gang was said to be on their way to the airport headed home when their minivan was assaulted with rotten tomatoes and eggs. As they walked through the airport a group of angry Russians attacked Hasselhoff and tried to strangle him with an American Flag.
Russian authorities are currently looking into the case. The US Ambassador to Russia sent out a tweet saying he found what the Bloodhound Gang did "disgusting" but also condemned the act of violence taken against the band.
