Blanca Soto recently signed a multi-project deal with Telemundo best known for her breakout role on the Univision production "Eva Luna." The Mexican beauty queen went on to be the lead of "El Talismán" for the same Spanish-language network and starred opposite Fernando Colunga in "Porque El Amor Manda." "I am thrilled to be joining the Telemundo team," said Soto. “It’s a team that strives for excellence, working together to create and deliver dynamic stories filled with gripping realism at top-quality production levels. I can’t wait to delve into the characters and bring them to life." Soto is set to star in "La Mujer de Acero" that will star production soon in Mexico. "We are delighted to have Blanca join Telemundo Studios to contribute to our upcoming original productions," said Joshua Mintz, the executive VP of scripted programming and the general manager of Telemundo Studios. "She not only brings to our productions her great talent and beauty, but also a successful career both in English and Spanish-language entertainment."
Why did Blanca Soto decide to not continue with Televisa and Univision? Televisa is the biggest Spanish-language producer and many actors see it as the mecca of telenovelas. Everyone that wants to reach international stardom strives for a leading role in the Mexican power-house. Could it be that Blanca Soto has other goals in mind? Aligning herself with Telemundo will definitely make her reach new areas that maybe she wants to tap into. The Spanish-language network ranked No. 2 in the U.S. is part of the NBCUniversal family that can open up a whole different market for Soto. Likewise, there are not many stars on the network, with many just signing up for one project and then leaving on to do other things. With Soto's multi-project contract, she will be very visible on the network and be identified by the public. Putting the time in with Telemundo will possibly open doors to Hollywood.
Blanca Soto is also the face of Garnier and her tv commercial is heavily rotated in all of the Spanish-language channels. With that campaign she also shot a version in English that has been airing in Anglo networks. Her heavy accent reminds us of Sofía Vergara's and she could be the inspiration behind this. Following Sofía's success, many Latinas can only dream of reaching her heights of sponsorships and workload. Accents are in and Blanca Soto might just be riding the wave into a crossover future.
