Two new smartphones will be unveiled to the marketplace on Jan. 30. Research in Motion said that will launch its Blackberry 10 platform and the first two Blackberry 10 smartphones.
Thorsten Heins, president and CEO of Research In Motion, said he and his team wanted to create a mobile experience that adapts to different needs.
"Our team has been working tirelessly to bring our customers innovative features combined with a best in class browser, a rich application ecosystem, and cutting-edge multimedia capabilities," Heins said. "All of this will be integrated into a user experience - the BlackBerry Flow - that is unlike any smartphone on the market today. Thanks to our strong partnerships with global carriers and a growing ecosystem of developers, we believe our customers will have the best experience possible with BlackBerry 10. We are looking forward to getting BlackBerry 10 in the hands of our customers around the world."
According to RIM, "BlackBerry 10 will offer a large catalog of the leading applications from across the globe and across all categories, including Games, Productivity, Social, Lifestyle and Leisure, Multimedia and Published Content, as well as applications designed for business and enterprise use."
When you get your hands on a Blackberry 10, you'll notice the BlackBerry Flow and BlackBerry Hub, which allows all messages, notifications, feeds, and calendar events in one place; the BlackBerry Keyboard which help you type faster; and BlackBerry Balance, which separates personal apps and information from work data.
The BlackBerry 10 smartphones has entered lab testing with over 50 carriers.
"I have spent the last several weeks on the road visiting with carrier partners around the world to show them the BlackBerry 10 platform and to share with them our plans for launch," Heins said. "Their response has been tremendous. They are excited about the prospect of launching BlackBerry 10 in their markets. Our respective teams are now engaged on the technical and commercial preparation of the launch of BlackBerry 10 and the lab entry is an important milestone in that context. Our developer teams are continuing to generate momentum to bring a wealth of applications to BlackBerry 10, our enterprise teams have started to present BlackBerry 10 devices and services to our business customers, and our engineers are fully mobilized to ensure that BlackBerry 10 launches flawlessly in the first quarter of 2013."
