ABC is getting ready to kick off a night of tunes at the Billboard Music Awards 2016. The celebration will be hosted by Ludacris and Ciara live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
"The Billboard Music Awards is one of best award shows to honor chart success. My great friend Ludacris and I have also shared songs together on the Billboard chart," said Ciara. "I look forward to sharing the stage with him on this special night. It will definitely be a night to remember!"
Ludacris added, "It is my honor to host the Billboard Music Awards for the third year and a pleasure to host with my good friend Ciara. I'm looking forward to another great show in a new and exciting venue."
Performances of the night include a special tribute to Prince by Madonna. The number has caused controversy as a group of people thought that a black artist should have done the honor.
“Listen, I think everybody is entitled to their opinion and everyone can have their own opinion, but I will say that we are honored and could not be more excited for Madonna to be on the show and to pay tribute to someone that was her friend and her peer and her colleague,” producer Mar Bracco said in a statement.
“I think it’s going to be fantastic.“It’s going to be very, very intimate and very respectful, and I think it’s something that is really going to pay tribute to Prince as the incredible, groundbreaking artist that he was and the influence that he had on music."
Other performers include Britney Spears, Kesha, Fifth Harmony, Justin Bieber, Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas, Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendes, Meghan Trainor and many more.
ABC broadcast the event live across the United States starting at 8 p.m. EST. Fans of the show will be able to stream online with the WatchABC app for mobile and streaming devices.
