The 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards, one of the most important and highly anticipated events in the music industry, have announced its nominees. Leading the pack are some of the most influential figures in contemporary Latin music, who have made their mark with chart-topping hits over the past year.

This year's top contenders are Karol G, Bad Bunny, and Peso Pluma, all of whom have multiple nominations in the 49 categories.

Karol G: The "Bichota" Leads with 17 Nominations

Colombian star Karol G has a firm hold of her position as the Queen of Latin music. With 17 nominations, she surpassed her previous nominations from 2022 (15) and 2023 (13). This year, Karol G is a finalist in major categories such as Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, and Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year, solidifying her status as one of the top global music figures.

Her album "Mañana Será Bonito" has also been a massive success, competing for the coveted Top Latin Album of the Year award. The album features hits like "Qlona," her collaboration with Peso Pluma, which is nominated in six categories, including Hot Latin Song of the Year and Song of the Year, Sales. Another standout track, "Mi Ex Tenía Razón," has earned two more nominations, adding to Karol G's impressive total, making her one of the most versatile and successful artists of the year.

Bad Bunny: The "Conejo Malo" Shines Again with 15 Nominations

Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny, one of the most globally recognized names in music, continues his dominance with 15 nominations at the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Among the categories where he is a finalist are Artist of the Year, Global 200 Artist of the Year, and Tour of the Year, demonstrating his unwavering connection with fans and his significant industry impact.

His collaboration with Colombian artist Feid on the track "Perro Negro" also received recognition, earning five nominations, including Global 200 Latin Song of the Year and Hot Latin Song Vocal Collaboration of the Year. Additionally, his album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana is nominated in two key categories: Top Latin Album of the Year and Latin Rhythm Album of the Year.

Bad Bunny's impressive haul of nominations highlights his versatility and ability to blend genres, from trap to reggaeton, maintaining his position as one of the most influential music stars today.

Peso Pluma: The Regional Mexican Phenomenon

Peso Pluma, one of the top artists in regional Mexican music, also garnered 15 nominations, tying with Bad Bunny for the second-highest number of mentions. His rise in the music scene has been meteoric, and his influence extends beyond regional Mexican music to the global stage. Notably, he is a finalist in major categories such as Artist of the Year, Global 200 Artist of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year, showcasing his ability to create hits that resonate with millions.

His album "Éxodo" is nominated for Regional Mexican Album of the Year, while his hit "Lady Gaga," a collaboration with Gabito Ballesteros and Junior H, is up for two awards: Hot Latin Song Vocal Collaboration of the Year and Song of the Year, Streaming. Additionally, Peso Pluma is nominated alongside Karol G in six categories for their collaboration on "Qlona," making him one of the most nominated artists of the night.

Feid and Other Noteworthy Nominees

Colombian reggaeton star Feid also shines this year with 11 nominations, establishing himself as one of the top international reggaeton performers. In addition to his mentions alongside Bad Bunny for "Perro Negro," Feid is a finalist for major awards such as Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year and Latin Rhythm Album of the Year for his album "Ferxxocalipsi"s.

Regional Mexican music will also have strong representation at the ceremony with Fuerza Regida, who earned eight nominations, including Artist of the Year and Hot Latin Song Vocal Collaboration of the Year for "Harley Quinn," their collaboration with Marshmello. Junior H, another key figure in the genre, also received eight mentions, standing out in categories like Artist of the Year and Regional Mexican Album of the Year for "$adBoyz For Life II".

Other artists with multiple nominations include Xavi (7), Grupo Frontera, and Myke Towers (5), as well as Aventura, Gabito Ballesteros, Kali Uchis, and Shakira, each with four mentions.

The Ceremony: The Year's Most Anticipated Event

The 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards will take place on October 20 in Miami, Florida, and will be broadcast live on Telemundo. Additionally, the event will be available on the Telemundo app, the Peacock streaming service, and will air across Latin America and the Caribbean via Telemundo Internacional.

With 49 categories covering genres from Latin Pop to Tropical, Latin Rhythm, and Regional Mexican, the awards celebrate the best of Latin music from the past year. The nominations reflect the artists' performance on Billboard charts from August 2023 to September 2024, based on key fan interactions, including sales, radio airplay, and touring.
