President Donald Trump addressed the attempted assassination of Donald Trump on Saturday, saying he was briefed on the incident.

"I'm grateful to hear that he's safe and doing well. I'm praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information. Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There's no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it," he added in a publication on X.

Biden also said he tried to communicate with Trump but he was unavailable and with his medical team. "I hope I get to speak to him tonight," he added during brief remarks from Rehobot Beach.

"It's sick. It's sick. It's one of the reasons we have to unite this country. We cannot condone this," he added.

Asked if the incident was an assassination attempt, Biden said he has "an opinion" but not "all the facts." He said he wants to have more information before commenting further.

A Biden campaign official added that the campaign is "pausing all outbound communications and working to pull down our television ads as quickly as possible."
