Ben Affleck is, reportedly, suffering from another sobriety setback. The actor has been sober for months, but he had another relapse.
According to tabloid In Touch Weekly, onlookers saw Jennifer Garner’s ex-husband stumbling outside of a Halloween party in Los Angeles. The actor, allegedly, admitted he slipped but vowed to not let anything derail his progress.
“He’s been going to late-night Hollywood parties, hanging out with the wrong people, people he barely knows and who don’t care about him,” a source said. “Many of them are scammers and are just using him. It’s sad and crazy because he is this huge celebrity and looks like a fool,” the insider added.
The tipster went as far as saying that Affleck was seen gambling at the Commerce Casino. In just 40 minutes, he reportedly lost $60,000. An onlooker said that Affleck refused to fold while playing poker.
However, TMZ reported that Affleck actually won $1,500 at the casino after just 15 minutes of gambling. Shortly after, he left the venue. The publication also confirmed that Affleck drank at that time.
But, according to the rumor-debunking site, Gossip Cop, it is unlikely that Affleck lost $60,000. Affleck didn’t also spiral out of control because, just before he attended the Halloween party in Los Angeles, he told his followers on Instagram that he has been in recovery for an entire year.
People also reported that Affleck is in a great place after celebrating his first year being sober. Even though he fell off the wagon last weekend, this doesn’t mean that he’s going down the rail.
Gossip Cop also said that InTouch has zero insight into Affleck’s struggles and is in no position to claim that he is struggling. The tabloid has no way of knowing exactly what happened at the Halloween party and in the casino because they did not talk to Affleck or his rep directly.
The same tabloid has also been publishing fake stories about Affleck. Last year, he was rumored to wed Lindsay Shookus. Affleck was also rumored to have gotten back together with Garner.
