This bear is hungry, and she is determined! On Tuesday a six-foot bear, decided to enjoy some take-out from Edelweiss restaurant in Colorado Springs. The Bavarian restaurant noticed the theft of their dumpster after Tuesday, but thought little of it. Then after retrieving the dumpster from across the street they noticed that the dumpster theft happened again on Wednesday night! And while the dumpster was only across the street turned over the restaurant checked their surveillance tapes, and to their surprise the thievery was being committed by quite an unusual suspect!
"Intruder stealing the dumpster last night," Edelweiss Restaurant said on its Facebook page. "WOW. This must be the Mama."
The video clips show the large bear sniffing out German food which was disposed of in the dumpster behind the restaurant. It seems that the bear then decides that instead of eating out, she would prefer to dine on schnitzel and sausages at home. The bear then rears up on it's hind legs and proceeds to push the dumpster out of sight of the camera.
"He just grabbed right onto it," Dieter Schnakenberg, Edelweiss Restaurant's manager, told local 9 News on Thursday. The bear managed to push the garbage bin 50 feet to the parking lot, where he flipped it to get to the food inside, Sky Valley Chronicle reports.
And while the restaurant was at first a bit confused about the dumpster thievery it seems that the owners even found it a bit funny. "He must like our food. He does take out," restaurant co-owner Helga Schnakenberg told THV 11. "It looks like he's using a shopping cart."
