David Villa appeared in 119 total matches for Barcelona from 2010 to 2013, scoring 48 goals and leading the club to multiple La Liga and Supercopa de Espana titles. Despite his well-documented success with the team, the 2005-2006 Spanish Player of the Year is on his way out of Camp Nou after 3 successful seasons.

According to ESPNFC, Barcelona has reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid that will send the 31-year-old striker to The Rojiblancos for a fee that could exceed €5 million.

Tottenham seemed like the early favorite to strike a deal with Barcelona but after a strong financial push from the 2012-2013 Copa del Rey winners, Villa's new home will put him alongside players such as Gabi and Diego Godin.

While Villa was successful in 3 seasons with Barca, he did struggle to maintain a spot along the first team at points during the 2012-2013 season. Initially signing a $57 million deal with the Camp Nou club after departing Valencia in 2010, the Langreo, Spain native is still on his way to earning a nice income with his new club.

Issuing a detailed statement on the team website, Barcelona noted that the deal includes a clause that allows them to retain the rights to 50 percent of any future Villa transfer.

FC Barcelona and Atletico de Madrid have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of David Villa.

The deal is set to bring Barça a maximum of 5.1 million Euros, with 2.1 due this season, 2 more if Villa stays at Atletico next year and another million should he be at the Madrid club the season after.

Barca also reserve the right to 50 per cent of any sell of fee in the future.

Atletico has reportedly shown a significant amount of interest in Sevilla striker Alvara Begredo but after signing Villa, Manchester City now looks like the most likely landing spot for the 27-year-old. It also appears that Edinson Cavani - once rumored to a possible Man City move - will join Paris Saint-Germain.
