When you think about the risks associated with hundreds of aircrafts landing at an airport, it can be a frightening thought. But most airports are organized and there is little to no room for error when it comes to take offs and landings. But a recent landing mishap in Barcelona raised the issue of human error and it was all caught on tape!
On Saturday, Barcelona's El Prat Airport in Spain saw a close call between two passenger jets after a Russian airline UTair Boeing 767-300 almost crashed into an Aerolíneas Argentinas Airbus A340-300. A YouTube video of the planes' has captured the moment -- watch the video below -- and fortunately, both aircrafts and their passengers managed to get away unharmed.
According to NBC, neither UTair nor Aerolíneas Argentinas filed a safety complaint but Spain's airport authority AENA has started an investigation into the incident reports English-language Spanish news site The Local. And if you're wondering exactly how close the call was, know that the Aviation Herald reports that the Boeing was a mere 20 seconds away from touching down when it pulled up again.
