There comes a time in every parent's life, where they have to make probably the biggest decision ever, because it's not only going to affect them, but the consequences will be for another human being. We're talking about naming their kids.

According to Focus, parents want their kids to stand and they name them based on that, but they should also consider the psychological effects that a name can have for someone. "A 1960s study of psychiatric records found that those with unusual names were more likely to be diagnosed psychotic, while recent research has shown that boys with the least popular names are more likely to commit crime."

In the same article, Professor James Bruning from Ohio University is quoted saying that we associate specific names with a person's perceived ability to do a job, "Who would be a better American football player," he asks, "someone whose name is Bronco or Colt, or someone named Francis or Percival?"

A poorly chosen baby name can lead to lower self-esteem, fewer relationship opportunities, higher likelihood of smoking and less education later in life.

That's why we're glad New Zealand took a stand and prohibited the use of names that resemble a title or rank, cause offense to a reasonable person or are unreasonably long.

Some of them that made the list (because parents actually tried to get away with them) were: Justice, Lucifer, Mafia No Fear, Anal, Queen Victoria, Messiah, Royale and Majesty. The award for most creative goes to "." or a period punctuation mark, that was supposed to be pronounced "Full Stop".
