Baker Mayfield had hit rock bottom in his career after being released by the Panthers earlier this, the second franchise that decided he wasn’t capable of being their franchise QB. The Rams, dealing with injuries, swooped him up with limited options.
Making last night that much more improbable: Teams are now 4-551 when trailing by 13 or more points in the final four minutes in the last five seasons, including playoffs. Half of those four wins have come in the last four days, courtesy of Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield.

Baker Mayfield joined the Rams just 46 hours before tip-off. The Rams were down 16-3 with just 12 minutes left to go in the game. He led the Rams down the field twice in the fourth quarter before capping off the final drive with a 23-yard touchdown pass to Van Jefferson.

Mayfield led the comeback with limited time to learn the playbook and his teammates. Who knows if Mayfield can continue to play well for the Rams going forward, but for a week he was able to put on a show.
