Despite being “The Bachelor” and having 26 love interests at one time, Juan Pablo’s road to romance has been a rocky one. Season 18 has been historic for the popular ABC series, for a number of reasons. Juan Pablo is the first Latino bachelor, there's also never been sexual intercourse between a lead and contestant so early on in the show (we are looking at you Clare) and never before had two participants eliminated themselves during a single season. Fans watched in shock while Sharleen admitted that she no longer wanted to participate in the race for Juan Pablo’s heart, which meant that instead of him eliminating someone in that night’s dramatic Rose Ceremony, Sharleen quietly packed up and left the Miami mansion. Sharleen’s decision to leave left the emotional Juan Pablo in tears, so we can only imagine what will happen when Andi reveals her plans to eliminate herself.
The 26-year-old District Attorney has been a favorite of Juan Pablo’s and also a favorite of the audience. She is among his top three even going so far as to meeting her family during the Hometown Dates. After the Hometown Dates, Juan Pablo and Andi along with Nikki and Clare jet set to St. Lucia for the highly anticipated overnight dates. However, Andi doesn’t seem to fall for the romance of the exotic island, or the allure of spending the night with Juan Pablo because she decides to eliminate herself while on the date. But it seems like the trouble started before the couple embarked on their overnight date, Juan Pablo was meet with some tough critics when meeting Andi’s close knit southern family for the first time. After JP and Andi’s up and down journey this season, the awkward tension in their relationship reaches an all time high when Andi introduces Juan Pablo to her family. Andi’s dad in particular is not so accepting of JP and his daughter’s new found love. However it’s not due to the fact that he doesn’t like JP personally. Instead, Andi’s old-school southern dad can’t quite grasp the concept of finding love on TV. While Andi’s dad certainly makes his opinions known, he doesn’t explicitly dislike Juan Pablo, it seems like his main gripe is with the idea of finding love on television. We agree with Mr. Dorfman.
But it seems like Andi didn’t take her dad’s advice to heart because rumor has it she is the next “Bachelorette.” This seems like the more likely reason that Andi decided to quit the show and admit to her lack of genuine feelings for Juan Pablo. ABC offered her a contract and a show all her own. After the backlash from her family following the Hometown Dates, her overwhelming popularity with fans who are watching Season 18 and ABC allegedly quick action with the next “Bachelorette” contract, Andi’s decision seemed to be a pretty simple one-cut ties and run. Now we are not saying that Andi didn’t enjoy Juan Pablo’s company or find the sexy Latino hunk attractive. I’m sure she did, however it seems like the relationship was never on the emotional level she desired, and when prompted with a better and sweeter deal, she accepted.
