A California man was arrested on a high school's football field while naked due to his alleged connection to the death of a teenager earlier that day.
On Thursday night, Newbury Park law enforcement and medical personal responded to reports of a teenager who was hit on the head with an unknown object at a home in the area, reported KTLA. An axe may have been the weapon used, according to law enforcement communication obtained by the station.
The victim, who has yet to be identified, was in the process of being transported to a hospital when he was pronounced dead in the ambulance, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said, as reported by KABC.
Law enforcement began to search the neighborhood for the suspect responsible when they eventually spotted a naked adult man roaming the football field at Newbury Park High School. He was apprehended and taken into custody.
Authorities believe the man may have been somehow related to the victim.
The high school was put into lockdown following the arrest due to the presence of students, particularly student-athletes, on the premises.
The identities of both the victim and the suspect have not yet been released.
