Bryan Konietzko, co-creator of the Nickelodeon hit-series "The Legend of Korra" and "Avatar: The Last Airbender," has revealed his next project; a graphic novel titled "Threadworlds."
In an interview with EW Konietzko revealed some details about the upcoming graphic novel calling "Threadworlds" the "long origin story" of protagonist Nova, who will eventually emerge as a "scientific superhero."
"I hope she’ll be inspiring to readers of all genders and ages," said Konietzko, "but especially girls who are interested in studying and pursuing science."
As for the plot, "Threadworlds" will be centered around five planets that share a single orbit. Nova will begin her story as an "inquisitive young scientist, curious about the world." Konietzko will write and draw the entire graphic novel, which is said to have the same high stakes and relatable characters found in his previous works like "The Legend of Korra."
"As for what to look forward to, Threadworlds has high stakes, relatable characters and a wide range of tones – similar to the work I co-created with Michael (Dante DiMartino, Konietzko's collaborator). And though the focus is on science there will be plenty of action and adventure. That’s definitely me being true to myself as a creator."
Furthermore, a cover photo of the new graphic novel along with some images of "Threadworlds" settings were revealed. Check them out below:
The first volume of the "Threadworlds" graphic novel series will be on sale in 2017 from First Second Books
