The Buenos Aires Forensic Medical Corps from the Judicial Morgue revealed the preliminary results of the autopsy of British artist Liam Payne, former member of One Direction.

According to the report shared with the press, Liam died from "multiple trauma," which caused "internal and external hemorrhage."

The state of his body is "consistent with the 10-meter fall (over 33 feet) he suffered from the balcony of his room," continues the report, which also indicates that toxicology and pathological studies are now awaited.

The forensics team took samples of his blood, urine, and viscera as part of the protocol when substance abuse, whether legal or illegal, is suspected. Other tests were conducted, though results have yet to be produced.

The investigation into Liam Payne's death

In Buenos Aires, it was also announced that the National Prosecutor's Office of Argentina had opened a case to investigate what caused the fall. According to Infobae, the main theory being explored is suicide.

However, other reports are also being investigated, suggesting that there were people with him in the room at the Casa Sur hotel, where he was staying, and from where he fell from his third-floor room.

The body of Liam was discovered in an internal hotel courtyard reserved for staff rest. Shortly before, two people had called the police to request the assistance of paramedics and officers, reporting a guest behaving violently and in a troubled state.

In his room, objects and furniture were found destroyed and disarranged, with traces of illegal drugs, legal, psychiatric medications, alcohol, and other substances. All of this, along with his recent phone calls and texts, are currently under investigation.

Why was Liam in Argentina?

According to his social media posts, the artist had come to see a concert by his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan in Buenos Aires. He also attended a Paul McCartney show and a wedding his girlfriend, content creator Kate Cassidy, had been invited to.

The woman, a resident of Miami, had returned to the United States three days before Liam Payne's death.
