History was made at Moto GP's latest Austin, Texas, Circuit of the Americas event on Saturday qualifying when 20-year-old Marc Marquez of Repsol Honda has just become the youngest rider to take a premier-class pole position. What's more, if Marquez manages to translate the pole into a win on Sunday, then the rider will become the youngest rider to win in the premier-class as well.

"We are happy of course, because we took our first pole position which is important and always exciting!" smiled Marquez.

"We knew beforehand that we could fight for pole, but you never know what will happen in the session. Both Dani and Jorge are fast over a single lap, and we managed to overcome them.

"The important stuff starts tomorrow, because we have a long, physical race with many of changes of direction to deal with. We need to be ready, because tomorrow is what really counts and I will do the best that I can!"

A rookie in MotoGP, Marc Marquez is already a force to be reckoned with after qualifying for sixth at Qatar. What's more, Marquez even dueled with MotoGP superstar Valentino Rossi in the closing stages of the race in a battle for second place. Marquez finished third on the podium.

Joining Marc Marquez on the front row of Circuit of the Americas on Sunday is Jorge Lorenzo and Repsol Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa.
