"Attack on Titan" is undoubtedly one of the most popular anime series out today. It's freshman season found major success and fans have been eagerly anticipating its follow-up. While we know it will arrive in 2016, it has also been reported that season two will be the last for the popular anime series.
Ecumenical News cited CBR's report that creator Kawakubo Shintaro said that the manga is now "60 percent finished," with only three years of chapters left to it. This more than likely will mean that soon after the manga chapters finish, the TV adaptation will be done as well. Especially seeing how the show is faithful to the content in the manga. There is always an option for a spin-off series or a continuation but only time will tell.
Meanwhile, according to Yibada the popular animated series second season is expected to arrive no earlier than mid-2016 based on a statement from the anime's director Tetsuro Araki. The reason for this delay is because "Attack on Titan" follows what is called a "manga policy" that states there should be "at least four arcs" in the manga before the anime can proceed with a new season.
As for what fans will see, the plot is said to have "more political undertones" and focus on protagonist Eren Yeager leading an uprising against the corrupt government. The real power behind the throne will be revealed and Eren will reportedly overthrow the ruling monarchy. Also expect a variety of titans as well as a major characters death.
