Election Day is among us and celebrities are trying their best to get out and encourage people to vote. R&B singer Ashanti, recently shared some family history on the talk show "The Real" that is inspiring enough to get people to place their ballots.
As well all know the election is the number one thing on everyone's mind. Will you cast your vote? Who is the best candidate? During Tuesday's show, The Real has Ashanti guest co-host as they talked about the upcoming election. The star shared that her grandfather acutally took part in the Civil Rights Movement with the late Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. and marched alongside him for our human right to vote.
While this election is very emotional for many as we say goodbye to the impressive run of the Obama administration, voting in this election is more crucial than ever.
As "The Way That I Love You" singer spoke about her grandfather's legacy, she pinpointed why it is so important for us all to have our voices heard and exercise our right to vote.
“He marched down Selma for us to have that opportunity to vote, so that has always been instilled in my entire family,” the star said. “As soon as someone turned 18, that's grandpa, go out there and do what you need to do.”
If you haven't casted your vote yet it is not too late. Polling sites close at 9p.m. today so there are no excuses. Do it before work, during work or after work. Get out and vote! Our future depends on it.
