Arturo Vidal
Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal of Chile waves to supporters as he warms up during a training session in Sydney August 9, 2014. Juventus will play against Australia's A-League All Stars in Sydney on Sunday. Reuters

Flip a coin to decide the fate of Chilean striker Arturo Vidal and there’s a fifty percent chance you’ll be right. Heads is Manchester United; the club that oddsmakers think is the favorite to land the Juventus star. That was until a few hours ago when oddsmakers in Vegas suspended betting on Arturo Vidal moving to Manchester United. According to ESPN FC, sports books around Vegas usually know information before it is released to the public and the fact that their books suspended bets on Vidal going to Old Trafford, is a direct sign that Louis Van Gaal has his man.

But not so fast! If Manchester United was heads in this hypothetical coin flip, than German powerhouse Bayern Munich is tails. According to media reports throughout Europe on Thursday, Bayern is prepared to outbid United for the Juventus player after losing Javier Martinez to a serious knee injury on Wednesday.

Martinez was injured and taken off the pitch on a stretcher during Bayern’s Super Cup loss to Dortmund. Doctors confirmed that Martinez suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee and is expected to be out between 6 -9 months. That means that Bayern Munich is now in the market for a midfielder after transferring Toni Kroos to Real Madrid earlier this month.

Despite Bayern’s big push to land Vidal, all indications still point to the Chilean signing with Manchester United. Earlier on Wednesday, Vidal was spotted in Australia signing Manchester United jerseys. Additionally, he has told those close to him that he prefers a move to England over Germany.

Arturo Vidal Signs Man U Jersey
Juventus star, signs a Manchester United jersey among rumors he will be traded to the club for Chicharito. Twitter

Reportedly the deal to send Vidal to the Red Devils could go down any day and more than likely would involve a swap of a total of three players. Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez who we have reported all week is on his way out of United, is linked to the trade, as well is Portuguese bad boy, Nani. If the deal were to be completed, United would send Chicharito, Nani, and $60 million dollars to Juventus in exchange for Vidal.

Louis van Gaal is a perfect 6-0 since taking over as manager of Manchester United. Despite his perfect record, he has yet to make any significant moves since taking over and after almost a month of reviewing, critiquing and analyzing his team, Van Gaal is in desperate need to strengthen his midfield. If Vidal is healthy after a recent knee operation, he could be exactly what the new coach of Old Trafford is looking for.

According to Vidal’s agent, we can expect an announcement soon, so flip that coin into the air and tell us if it comes down heads or tails. If it doesn’t come down at all, chances are Vidal stays at Juventus as the coach of the club, Massimiliano Allegri told reporters yesterday: “Vidal? He’s not going anywhere.”
