Arsenal FC allegedly has no plans of selling Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang contrary to the insinuations being made.
The Gunners are coming off a 1-2 defeat to Everton with the 32-year-old player getting just five minutes of playing time. Aside from that, Aubameyang missed a chance to potentially tie the game in the last kick of the game held at Goodison Park.
Not long after, sports pundits suggested that all may not be well between the Gunners and the Gabonese player. Gary Neville suggested that there could be a rift developing between Arteta and Aubameyang that could lead to a potential parting of ways in the January transfer window, Sky Sports reported.
Now days later, Arteta has set the records straights and rebuffed the insinuations. He stresses that he hold good relations with his players and added that he always tries to do what is best for the team and that his decisions are not personal, ESPN reported.
However, he did address the drought and struggles that were undoubtedly about Aubameyang.
"Obviously, when a player is not scoring it's affecting his confidence, it's affecting the mood and probably the belief, but you have to rebel against this situation, don't accept it and feel sorry for yourself," Arteta stated.
Arteta also responded to questions on the possibility of seeing Aubemayang leave Emirates Stadium.
"Really, we have never discussed something like this, and when players are under difficulty -- or the team is under difficulty- - what we have to be is supportive," Arteta added.
Like other clubs and sporting teams, Arsenal FC has not been spared from the problems brought by the pandemic. With a new variant threatening the world in the Omicron variant, it is pretty clear that it is a factor that most have to deal with.
With the January transfer window up, it will be interesting if Aubameyang will still be around. But then again, it is a scenario that the Gabonese captian is no stranger to as most can see from last year.
