Lucas Torreira is ready to move out of Emirates Stadium with reports that Atletico Madrid is ready to take in the Uruguayan football player. The only problem now is that the deal cannot be completed until Los Indios can unload one of their players to take in the 24-year-old midfielder.
Torreira has fallen down the ranks of Arsenal FC and a loan spell with some other club is seen as the best way to resolve the issue. According to The Athletic, it would be a season-long loan deal with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.
However, the deal cannot be completed until Los Indios identifies the player they need to offload. The name of Hector Herrera has been floated but there are still no takers for the 30-year-old player. Zenit St. Petersburg did have talks with Alteti but talks fizzled.
If not Herrera, Thomas Lemar could be another player who could leave. The French football player has not exactly performed well at Wanda Metropolitano since arriving in 2018. He was acquired following a $71 million deal with Monaco.
A team interested in Lemar is Bayern Munich. But similar to the case of Herrera, talks bogged down, Goal reported. It turns out that Atleti wanted to include an option to buy but Munich only wanted a short-term option to cover for Leroy Sane. RB Leipzig is another club interested in Lemar but is dealing with financial issues like some other clubs.
Once the deal for Torreira is done, it would be a relief on the part of the Uruguayan. He was initially seen as someone who could resolve the club’s midfield problems. Unfortunately, he ended up struggling to find his groove under the watch of Mikel Arteta, a reason why he has fallen down the pecking order.
Torreira is not the only player expected to leave Arsenal before the transfer deadline. Other players likely to be moving out of Emirates Stadium include Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Matteo Guendouzi, and Sead Kolasinac.
Of those names, Guendouzi could be the player heading out the door. Arsenal is holding talks with Marseille on a possible loan deal. Ironically, the French player was also offered to Los Indios in a possible package for Thomas Partey. Atletico had no interest in taking in Guendouzi.
