Another new face has joined the cast of the fifth season of "Arrow." According to TV Line, "The McCarthy's" Tyler Ritter has landed a recurring role as Star City's newest cop, Detective Malone, on The CW superhero series.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news and revealed Ritter will join the Star City Police Department following Captain Lance's (Paul Blackthorne) departure from the squad last season. No other details have been revealed regarding Ritter as Detective Malone, but it will be interesting to see what role he will play in the coming season.
With Captain Lance gone many fans are worried he will have a significantly lesser role in Season 5. However, Blackthorne will continue on as a series regular and is expected to see Lance continue to play a major part in the storyline of "Arrow."
Aside from the CBS sitcom "The McCarthy's," you may also know Ritter from his guest appearances on "NCIS," ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and the Freeform drama "Young & Hungry."
Ritter joins a growing list of actors coming to Season 5 of the superhero series. Recently it was revealed that "Chicago P.D.'s" Josh Segarra will join in a regular role as district attorney Adrian Chase also known as Vigilante. While "Reaper" alum Rick Gonzalez will come on board as DC Comics character Wild Dog and "The Walking Dead's" Chad L. Coleman will join as new villain Tobias Church.
Meanwhile, Variety reported that Madison McLaughlin will return to "Arrow" Season 5 as the troubled teen Evelyn Sharp. The site stated that McLaughlin will be reprising her role as Evelyn for multiple episodes beginning in the second episode of the season. The site further revealed that the character will take on a new DC Comics persona, Artemis.
Season 5 of "Arrow" is set to premiere Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
