An Arizona man was arrested this week for threatening to kill President-elect Donald Trump and members of his family, and posting a series of menacing videos showing his intent to do so.
Concretely, Manuel Tamayo-Torres accused Trump and members of his family of kidnapping his children and sex-trafficking them. He posted related videos on a "near-daily basis," including at the site of a Trump rally in Glendale on August 23, authorities detailed. He was arrested on Monday in Southern California and charged with one count of making threats against the president-elect and four counts of making false statements during the purchase of a firearm.
The documents don't identify Trump by name but say the recipient of the threats as a former president and the president-elect. "You see [Individual l], this from far away, [Individual l]... As soon I hear that leave that barrel, I'm already on the foot run after you [Individual 1]," Tamayo-Torres said in a video, according to documents obtained by NBC News.
"And all these little boys and their little badges, off the books, [Individual 1]. They can't run very fast with a bunch of equipment, a firearm, an AR, a 50 caliber," the man adds in another passage of the video. Additional footage from November 21 shows him saying that Trump's "whole family is going to die." Tamayo-Torres was convicted of felony assault in 2003 and sentenced to five years in a California state prison. He was also served with an order of protection by his ex-wife last year.
The episode marks yet another seemingly credible threat against Trump's life and comes months after he survived an assassination attempt during a rally on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania when he was hit by a bullet that pierced the upper part of his right ear by the now-deceased would-be-assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks.
He was also targeted during another attempt in September in West Palm Beach Florida when gunshots were fired close to Trump International Golf Course. And earlier this month the Department of Justice charged a man with being involved in an Iranian plot to kill Trump.
On Wednesday, Trump's newly-minted press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed that multiple Cabinet nominees and appointees have been targeted with violent threats, which has prompted law enforcement to act swiftly to ensure their safety.
"Last night and this morning, several of President Trump's Cabinet nominees and administration appointees were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them"
Leavitt went on to say that the incidents included bomb threats and "swatting" — false reports of emergencies intended to provoke armed police interventions at individuals' residences. Although she did not specify which Cabinet she was referring to in X, Fox News Digital reported that they included CIA director nominee John Ratcliffe, defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, and U.N. ambassador nominee Rep. Elise Stefanik.
