The defamation trial of actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard took a different twist on Tuesday when the latter’s side presented their side.
The camp of Heard revealed how Depp abused the actress with a bottle and forced the 36-year-old to give him oral sex. It was also claimed that the Golden Globe Award winner subjected Heard to cavity searches during their relationship.
The first witness called by the Heard camp was Dr. Dawn Hughes. She said that Heard suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder after her marriage to Depp due to alleged abuse.
“When Mr. Depp was drunk or high, he threw her on the bed, ripped off her nightgown and tried to have sex with her,” Hughes stated. “There were times when he forced her to give him oral sex when he was angry at her.”
As far as the alleged cavity searches, Depp allegedly performed it on Heard’s private parts with his fingers. Hughes added that this left the 36-year-old actress. The “Aquaman” star disassociated herself with Depp after the latter abused her with a bottle.
Hughes, who specializes in “interpersonal violence abuse,” also stated that the actress was particularly vulnerable after growing up in an abusive household, said to be why she learned “to love someone who hurt her,” the Post reported.
“Love and normalcy are almost always in these relationships,” Hughes said. “When you’re in a lull and the violence isn’t happening, you’re back with the man you fell in love with. It creates a trauma bond.”
Heard appeared to be on the verge of tears during the testimony when her childhood, was brought up by an abusive father.
“She learned from a very early age how to be a caretaker,” Hughes said. “She learned that she can love someone who hurt her.”
This comes after Depp that it was Heard who was abusive to him and that the claims made against the 58-year-old actor have damaged his career and income.
