Apple tech followers have been waiting patiently for news of the still in development iWatch. New rumors reported by macrumors.com say that the Apple Company has been testing out different screen sizes and "OLED displays from RITEK subsidiary RiT display."
Macrumors.com says they got word of the latest Apple Smart Watch rumors from the Economic Times a Taiwanese newspaper.
According to the Mac Rumors website the report claims that RITEK will enter into a joint venture with RitFast in order to supply the touch screen sensor for the iWatch.
The iWatch is said to have a 1.5 inch display and rumors that Intel has joined up with Apple on its iWatch project have begun to circulate. Mac Rumors says Apple settled for a 1.5 inch display after the original 1.8 inch model proved to be too big.
Rumors about what features the Apple Smart Watch will have include, the ability to make phone calls, mapping, a pedometer and sensors that allow the wearer to monitor their heart rate and other health related features.
Pcadvisor.co.uk says, "The Apple iWatch will not be just any old wrist watch, but more like a wearable computer complete with full OS."
Various websites have suggested possible release dates for the Apple iWatch. Bloomberg reported a date as early as this year. While other sites suggest that the beginning of 2014 is a more reliable time frame.
The Apple iWatch rumors are still largely rumors. No official word from Apple about the iWatch has been released. The Apple website shows zero results when iWatch is typed into the search box, with the exception of a wrist band you can set your iPod nano into.
Tim Cook the CEO of Apple called a wearable device like an iWatch an "interesting idea" at the D10 Conference last year. Cook also added that the "book hasn't been written on that yet."
