According to a new report, Apple is planning to expand its Apple Pay service to allow iOS users to make purchases from websites later this year. Re/code reports, Apple Pay will be available to customers who visit websites and make purchases using Safari on an iPad or iPhone.
Currently Apple Pay is available at certain physical locations as well as third party apps that support the service. By adding the service to Safari, Apple is removing the need for customers to download a stores app in order to use Apple Pay. It will also make the app closely resemble services like Paypal.
Furthermore, Re/code says Apple is also looking into incorporating Apple Pay on the Mac but without the fingerprint sensor it may be impossible.
As for using the service in Safari customers will be able to do so without entering an address or payment method as that information is provided by Apple Pay and authenticated through the fingerprint sensor.
Apple Pay on Safari is said to be arriving before the holiday season and will more than likely be announced at WWDC 2016.
