iPad Mini 2 has arrived and with Apple's usual antics, the next generation tablet has even more features than we figured. The iPad Mini with Retina Display will feature Apple's coveted Retina display, meaning that the small device now boasts enough pixel density to ensure the users will not detect pixilation at typical viewing distance. The viewer will see the stunning 2,048x1,536 Retina Display through the iPad Mini with Retina Display's 7.9 inch screen, which is LED-backlit with IPS technology. The screen is so powerful that Phil Schiller, who serves as Apple's senior vice president of marketing admitted the iPad Mini with Retina Display's "text is as sharp as a magazine."
Even more impressive is Apple's inclusion of the A7 processing chip with 64 bit architecture. This is a huge jump in terms of processing speed, with the iPad Mini with Retina Display set to outperform its predecessor with 4 times the speed. The A7 chip also helps support the iPad Mini with Retina Display's impressive graphics, with the additional 64 bit architecture the new tablet is 8 times faster in terms of graphics. While we are speaking of fast, the speed most users are considering with have received a significant update as well. The next-generation iPad's WIFI is now 2 times faster with MIMO. MIMO, is the use of multiple antennas at both the transmitting and receiving end of a specific device. With the upgrade antennas iPad Mini with Retina Display will have improved communication performance with the internet, making it faster easier for users for stream, download, update and more.
As for the new iPad's camera, not much has been significantly updated. The iPad Mini with Retina Display features the same camera as the iPad Mini, for the FaceTime HD camera users will still be able to take 1.2 MP photos, while also chatting in 720p video. As for the iPad Mini with Retina Display's rear facing camera, dubbed the iSight camera, users will be able to snap 5MP photos using auto focus, face detection, backside illumination. In our opinion, everyone looks ridiculous taking photos on their iPad, so the lack of upgrades to the iPad Mini with Retina Display's camera is not necessarily unsurprising.
Finally the look of the iPad Mini with Retina Display is also very unchanged. But again, the look and body of its popular predecessor didn't really need to be altered, it works the way it is. The dimensions and weight of the iPad Mini with Retina Display are 7.87 inches by 5.3 inches, it weighs a dainty .73 pounds, and thus the dimensions are practically identical to the existing iPad Mini. The only upgrade in terms of aesthesis is the color options now offered by Apple, the iPad Mini with Retina Display, comes in Space Gray and Silver, but not the recently debuted Gold. It ships in late November, starting at $399 for 16GB of storage going all the way up to $699 for 128 GB.
