Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 7 and its two bigger siblings, the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 Pro, this September. However, along with the anticipation for the smartphones is the incessant rumors and speculations about their specs and features.

The latest word from the grapevine claims that the Cupertino giant has modified the home button of the iPhone 7 devices to mimic the functionality of the latest MacBooks’ trackpad technology.

The new home button is reportedly designed to be flush with the surface of the iPhone 7, but it is going to be capacitive, which according to famous Apple leakster Mark Gurman translates to a button that gives off vibrating haptic sensation on every touch, The Verge reported.

This is not the first time that this type of rumor about the iPhone 7’s home button surfaced. Back in June, Forbes picked up an online rumor claiming that Apple will be upgrading the home button by making it more sensitive to touch.

Another key feature that Apple is said to be modifying for its upcoming iPhone iteration is the phone speaker. Instead of just retaining the single speaker found in the device’s predecessors, the company has reportedly added a second speaker to improve the overall quality and volume of the handset’s sound system.

In addition, Apple has reportedly made the drastic decision to ditch the universal 3.5mm headphone jack from its new devices to strongly implement the use of Bluetooth connectivity, Lightning EarPods or other peripherals that can be connected to the device’s dongle, Engadget reported.

Other rumored specs and features of the new iPhone 7 devices include IP68-certified waterproofing and wireless charging via Smart Connectors. There is also the addition of a dark blue color variant in the upcoming line of iPhone devices, according to PC Advisor.

Finally, the most famous rumor about the iPhone 7 claims that the iPhone 7 Pro version will be sporting a dual-lens camera system that was designed to take superior quality photos.

Apple has yet to confirm any of the rumors. Everyone might just have to wait for the official launch in September to know the latest upgrades. Leakster Evan Blass claims that the launch date would be on Sept. 7, the start of pre-orders on Sept. 9, while the iOS handsets’ official release date on Sept. 16.
