Rumors have been circulating the internet claiming Apple is planning to launch a 12-inch version of its market-leading tablet later in the year. The new tablet has been dubbed the iPad Pro and is expected to be much more than just a big iPad. According to a report over at Barron’s the new iPad Pro expected fall 2014 is expected to marry Apple’s MacBook Air and iPad for all new device. The new iPad is expected to be powered by Apple’s new A8 chip.

DigiTimes, a Taiwanese technology web site, reports that the device is expected October. The web site quotes sources from Apple’s supply chain stating the size and release date for the new device. "Apple's large-size tablet will be manufactured by Quanta Computer," the report claims. "It was originally expected to adopt either 12.9- or 13.3-inch panels, with recent rumours indicating that 12.9-inch has a better chance to be picked." Although the latest iPad is expected to marry both the iPad and MacBook Air you can expect that the new device will run more than mobile apps.

According to Trusted Review, The latest iPad is not going to be limited to only mobile apps. "Built with a next-generation Apple A8 processor inside, the iPad Pro could launch in autumn 2014 running both iOS and Mac OS X operating systems," it suggests. "A fair few rumours of late suggest that Apple has already been experimenting with a 12-inch screen for a new product that may well launch this year." As of now this hybrid device is all speculation but it would be a new step for Apple and it would be nice to see the company step out of their comfort zone.
