Antonio Banderas claims he is a changed man after divorcing Melanie Griffith.
The Spanish actor, who is in Miami with his girlfriend Nicole Kimpel for Miami Fashion Week, opened up to E! News about his divorce in 2014 after nearly 20 years of marriage with the Hollywood actress.
"My life changed very much during the last two years, personal reasons," he told E! in an exclusive interview. "The possibility of reinventing myself was there, and so I said probably this is the moment that I can do this."
The "Matador" actor revealed that his biggest mentors in life are his kids, especially his youngest daughter Stella del Carmen. "I told my kids sometimes, but in fact, the reality is I learned from them more. They were not very obedient, but I learn from them."
Banderas and Griffith called it quits two years ago and in a joint statement, confirmed the following: "We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together - Melanie & Antonio"
The 55-year-old actor is currently in Miami, where he was introduced as the honorary President of Miami Fashion Week 2016.
According to The Miami Herald, Banderas has a deep passion for fashion and has been studying bespoke tailoring at Central Saint Martins London art school. “Believe me, it’s not easy to enter university when you are 55 years old,” he told The Miami Herald. “I had to do a lot of convincing that my intentions were real, and I was serious. They believed in me, and I began to work. I needed knowledge.”
The Miami-based newspaper also reports that the "Desperado" actor is expected to debut a few pieces from his clothing men's line with Scandinavian label SELECTED Homme during Miami Fashion Week.
