A heroic bystander saved a Georgia driver from drowning after the driver crashed her car into an irrigation canal.
Sgt. Juan Gutierrez, Public Information Officer for the Texas Department of Public Safety, shared that an Archer County driver lost control of their vehicle while approaching Kamay Road, skidding off of the roadway and into the South Side Canal.
The vehicle and its driver, a 49-year-old woman, became submerged in the moving canal, according to a report from KAUV.
A bystander who had been working nearby spotted the car in the canal, and saw the woman's hand sticking out of the window.
Wading into the canal, the bystander was able to help the driver break a car window and escape the vehicle, returning her to shore. Officials thanked him for his efforts, noting that the driver might have died without his assistance.
