Princess Anne is Queen Elizabeth II’s and Prince Philip’s only daughter and is currently 14th in line to the throne. Born in Aug 15, 1950, the princess was actually birthed two years before Elizabeth II became Queen. Although not as well known as the younger and more popular princesses Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, the Princess Royal is one of the most hardworking royals, almost doing double the engagements that the two princesses undertake combined.

As the daughter of a monarch, Anne was given the title of princess upon birth and was granted the additional title of Princess Royal by the Queen in 1987. Although formerly next in line to her older brother, Prince Charles, in terms of succession, the Princess Royal fell behind her two younger brothers, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, due to the preference of male primogeniture according to the Act of Settlement of 1701.

The Princess Royal loves horses and is also a very talented equestrian, having gone to the Olympics as part of the British Equestrian Team for the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976. She currently serves as the president of the British Olympic Association and is a member of the International Olympic Committee. The princess also competed in several European Three-Day Event Championships, earning multiple awards for both individual and team disciplines.

Formerly married to Olympic Equestrian and Retired Officer Captain Mark Phillips in 1973, their marriage gave them two children: Peter and Zara. Her daughter Zara shared her love for horses and her athletic prowess, participating at the Olympics in 2012. Zara won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics as part of Team GB's eventing team.

The Princess Royal wed retired British naval officer Sir Timothy Laurence in a quiet ceremony in December 1992. She currently has four grandchildren: Savannah, Isla, Mia and Lena.

From the age of 18, Princess Anne has been working tirelessly as a member of the royal family. Since 1969, she has been traveling abroad at least thrice a year as part of her royal duties. She is currently involved in almost 300 charities, and after being present at 179 royal engagements last year, she is currently the busiest member of the royal family.
