Ann B. Davis has passed away at the age of 88. The actress best known for playing the beloved role of Alice Nelson in the hit 70's show "The Brady Bunch" died at a hospital in San Antonio, Texas following a head injury. According to Bishop William Frey, a close friend of the actress, Davis was rushed to the hospital and treated after hitting her head in a fall. She suffered a subdural hematoma, fell into coma and never regained consciousness. Ann's agent, Robert Malcom, said she used a walker and had been in excellent health living in San Antonio with Frey and his wife. Ms. Davis is survived by her sister Harriet Norton.

Eve Plumb, who starred on "The Brady Bunch" playing middle sister Jan Brady, said in a statement: “Ann was an amazing lady. She was great to work with, and I have wonderful memories of our scenes together on ‘The Brady Bunch.’ She was kind and generous to all of us on set. Although we hadn’t seen each other as often as we may have wanted to in the last few years, I am sure she knew she held a very important place in my heart. My thoughts are with her family and friends.” Florence Henderson, Matriarch of the TV family, also reacted on her Facebook page following the news. "I am so shocked and sad to learn that my dear friend and colleague, Ann B Davis, died today," she wrote. "I spoke with her a couple of months ago and she was doing great!"

Ann's role as the maid on the show was iconic and in a 2004 interview she described how she created a back story to her character. "I made up a background story. I did have a twin sister, so I used that as a basis. ... I cared very much about this family. It was my family. It was as close to my family as Alice would ever get. I would have died for any single one of them at any point," she said. "You know, they wrote me such gorgeous things to do, as the intermediary between the kids and the adults, and between the boys and the girls. And they gave me funny things to do."
