The outrage comes from the main character's first name, Trayvon. It is believed that the App's character is based on Trayvon Martin a 17-year-old that was shot and killed in February 2012.

George Zimmerman is currently on trial for second-degree murder. He claims to have shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense after the teen violently turned on him. The prosecution is claiming that Zimmerman profiled Martin because he was a young black male wearing a hoodie. That description fit the profile of kids Zimmerman had seen around his neighborhood following break-ins.

The prosecution is arguing that Zimmerman was frustrated with the lack of progress in the break-in case and snapped from exhaustion and frustration when he began to follow Trayvon Martin, eventually killing him.

According to C-Net the 'Angry Trayvon' game follows a young man in a hoodie as he "completes his world tour of revenge on the bad guys who terrorize cities every day. Players of the game can use a variety of weapons to take down the attackers from around the world."

The game's developer Trade Digital agreed to remove the game from the App store and Facebook. The creators sited the public outrage as the cause but also said, via Facebook that they meant no offense and the game was only for entertainment purposes.
