Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce has been underway for several years, with the final leg of the proceedings currently being ironed out. Pitt and Jolie’s tumultuous falling apart brought some serious distress to their six children: 18-year-old Maddox, 15-year-old Pax, 14-year-old Zahara, 13-year-old Shiloh and 11-eleven-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. According to several reports, the couple’s eldest son, Maddox, has estranged himself from his father.

According to a report by American magazine Us Weekly, the 18-year-old is distancing himself from his father following an altercation between them around three years ago. It was this self-same incident that was reported to have spurned Jolie to file for a divorce. The incident had Pitt — who was allegedly drunk during the fight — undergo drug and alcohol testing, take therapy sessions and attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

The three years of Brangelina’s separation saw Pitt attempt to rekindle his role as a father, but for Maddox, it was never going to be enough. Not only did the “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” star pick a fight with Jolie — whom their eldest was reportedly very close to — but Maddox also “doesn’t really see himself as Brad’s son,” Us Weekly’s source claims. The rift between father and son was even more evident when Maddox opted not to join his younger siblings in opening up gifts with their father last Christmas season.

One source claims that Maddox “never wants to see his dad again.” Rumors fueled this notion further when he was allegedly not invited to attend Maddox’s 16th and 18th birthday. The distance is even more evident with news that Pitt found out that his son would attend school in Korea only moments before the media did, showing how out of touch he is with his eldest’s life.

These reports, however, remain unverified by the Jolie-Pitt family and come in contrast with several reports of Pitt exerting all of his effort to be the best dad possible. The award-winning actor recently got the chance to spend the summer with his children as Jolie is reportedly busy with her upcoming movie “Those Who Wish Me Dead.”
