Univision

Just one day after their wedding in Mexico, Ángela Aguilar and Christian Nodal captivated audiences at Premios Juventud 2024, debuting publicly as husband and wife during the awards gala held in Puerto Rico.

The 21st edition of the Univision Awards also held many moving moments and surprising victories. The list of winners was led by two of the biggest Latin music artists of 2024, although neither of them was in attendance. Held at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, the Premios Juventud ceremony lit the stage with thrilling performances and special collaborations. Under the theme "Dare to Do More," the night celebrated music, television, and entertainment, highlighting youth's bold spirit and digital creators' impact on social media.

Premios Juventud's biggest winners

Karol G and Peso Pluma emerged as the biggest winners of the evening, each taking home five awards. They even share one of the "Best Urban Track" awards for their collaboration, "Qlona."

They were followed by Carín León, Xavi, Bizarrap, and actor Daniel Elbittar, who each won two awards. The event, broadcast live on Univision and ViX, to audiences across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America, including Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Venezuela, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic.

The happy couple

One of the surprises of the night was a video recorded by Ángela Aguilar and Christian Nodal the night before, during their wedding ceremony in México. Aguilar had two nominations for the 2024 Premios Juventud.

Although Pepe Aguilar's 20-year-old daughter couldn't attend in person or win any of the awards, she made her presence felt through a heartfelt video message. In the video, she congratulated the organization on reaching a milestone and expressed her gratitude for her win, in what seems to be honest confusion, given that she took the time to record the video during her wedding. At the end of her message, an ecstatic-looking Nodal shows up to say hello.

She also promised her fans that she would attend next year's "hottest summer party." Her touching message resonated with the audience, adding a personal and emotional highlight to the event.

The Premios Juventud fiesta

The night kicked off with a dynamic double opening act: the world premiere of Sergio George's new single with Wisin, "La Vida Es Una Fiesta," from his upcoming album "Ataca Sergio: Urban Salsa Sessions," followed by a medley of hits from Anitta. Spectacular performances, special tributes, and the annual "Agents of Change" recognition were key highlights. Honorees included Anitta, social media sensation Lele Pons, and music legends Los Tigres del Norte for their contributions to improving the world.

Hosted by Lele Pons, Clarissa Molina, and Wisin, the event featured unforgettable performances. Prince Royce, alongside DJ Adoni and Darell, debuted "El Reemplazo" on television, while Mexican pop band Camila premiered their new hit "Mía." Reik performed "No Molestar" from their latest album "Panorama," and Los Esquivel delivered a medley of their hits "Alucin" and "Exceso."

Argentina's Emilia made her television debut with "La_Playlist.MPEG" before a magical performance of "Perdonarte ¿Para Qué?" with Los Ángeles Azules.

Dominican artist Natti Natasha shared a personal moment with her rendition of "Quiéreme Menos." Puerto Rican producers Chris Jedi and Gaby Music gathered a new generation of urban artists, including Darell, Corina Smith, Izaak, Omar Courtz, Luar La L, Lunay, and Yovngchimi. Puerto Rican idol Farruko electrified the stage with hits from his latest album, "CVRBON VRMOR [C_DE: G_D.O.N.]."

The event also paid tribute to musical pioneers with a heartfelt homage to Fania All Stars, commemorating their 60th anniversary. This memorable moment featured performances by Anitta, Ivy Queen, La India, Luis Figueroa, Oscar D'León, Tito Puente Jr., and Tony Succar, directed by Sergio George.

Additionally, Wisin, Darell, and Lenny Tavárez ignited the stage with their collaboration "Aventura 2.0."

This year's event also spotlighted social media content creators with award categories recognizing their cultural impact. Winners included Wendy Guevara for "Creator of the Year," Carlos Eduardo Espina for "Creator Who Inspires," Juan González for "Creator with a Cause," and Karla De La Torre for "Best LOL."
